Day One.....my impressions....

I posted pictures of Grace and Jade and Beth and Jade, Jade is 5 and a doll. All the kids are sweet and very affectionate. There are around 54 children and they are divided into units.........the Bunny unit, the Pooh Unit, the Nemo unit et cetera. In between the playrooms are bedroom of four colour coded cots and washrooms. Many cots has a beautiful quilt that Joyce, the director hand sews for each child. Very nice. Beth and Grace started off unsure and a little reserved but are now running around the place like they have been here forever. Each has their on special unit they prefer. They are talking Chinese and interacting very well. It is not always understood but they are getting more confident and it is only day one. They know when to hit the canteen for meals and are lining up with all the nannies. They are trying a bit of everything.

Church was very uplifting and was attended by about 300 ex-pats. There was coffee served and good fellowship followed with lots of music and a good group. The sermon was "are we doing anything meaningful with our lives". It was not the Catholic Church which is too far away, but it was good. It was pretty chilly but today was actually very sunny with a touch of spring.

After our Indian lunch we came back and the girls played with the children as did I and then they had some time outside in the playground. We were downstairs from 3-630 and now it is time to go back to the apartment for a movie and a snack. This is bath
time for the little ones and we would be in the ayi's (nannies) way if we stuck around.

I will post some random pictures of the day. Most are what we are writing about and are self explanatory.

Got your email Isabel and thanks. Lovely to hear from you. We miss you too and love you as always.

Wow Norma, things do seem to stay the same and we had very similar experiences. That is so nice that your girls speak somDon't you find you are just on your own to do whatever? That is great. Are there lots of volunteers?

So fun following your journey! I looked up Jade on the HFH website and it said she had CHD. She does not look blue anymore though; maybe she has had surgery? I hope so. I wish I could bring her home!!!
